Studio
An industry leading footwear studio.
We design forward-thinking footwear and develop it with the newest methods: parametric resin printing, Zellerfeld, and modern tooling for traditional production.
Founder
Led by Kyle Benton.
Autrion is led by Kyle Benton, an industrial designer specializing in footwear. His training in industrial design made him one of the pioneers of 3D printed footwear, before printed shoes reached the mainstream market. That work in 3D printing, paired with traditional footwear design, became Autrion: an independent design and development studio based in Maryland, working with brands across traditional manufacturing, Zellerfeld and parametric resin printing.
Before Autrion, Kyle worked inside the traditional footwear industry and saw how major brands produce shoes: large production runs, long development cycles and little room to try new ideas. That shapes how we work now. We know what a factory needs from a tech pack and a blueprint, and we know where 3D printing can do something tooling can't.
We still design and release our own footwear, printed to order with Zellerfeld, so nothing is made before it's sold. Those shoes are where we test structures, fit and cushioning before bringing what works to client projects. We hold multiple patents pending on 3D printed structures and cushioning systems.
How we work
The route comes first. A mold-based sneaker, a Zellerfeld print and a parametric resin structure each need a different model, different files and a different manufacturing partner. We develop for the route your project requires, and we have manufacturing relationships for each one.
We do not own factories, and we don't promise manufacturer acceptance. We prepare the work so it can move from model to sample to production with the right partner.
